Build a mindset rooted in gratitude—not toxic positivity.

You don’t need affirmations. You need proof that things are good.

- A grounded approach to mental wellbeing
- Notice what is already good, in your own words
- Shift your mindset with evidence, not fluff

## Common questions

### Is gratitude journalling just toxic positivity?

Not if you keep it specific. Toxic positivity asks you to conclude that the day was good. Three specific lines only ask what you can still picture: the hot tea, one message that struck a chord, ten quiet minutes. Nothing in the practice says a bad day was secretly a good one. You are adding an entry to the record, not overwriting it.

### What is the actual evidence that gratitude journalling works?

The best-known study is a 2003 experiment by Emmons and McCullough, published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, in which people who listed things they were grateful for once a week reported greater optimism and higher life satisfaction than people who listed their hassles instead. It is worth being precise: it is not medicine, and it is not a substitute for proper care when you need it.

### Why does it feel like nothing good happens, even in a decent week?

Because the good things keep happening and never get filed away. Negativity bias is the documented tendency for unpleasant events to hit harder, and stay with us longer, than pleasant events of the same magnitude — so at the end of a perfectly decent week you retain an accurate memory of two irritations. A written record is the counterweight: proof, rather than affirmation.
